Frank Hodnett

Dr. Frank Hodnett began his career in 1988 with New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service as the 4-H Agent in Roosevelt County in Eastern New Mexico. He served there for 12 years and his efforts revolved around traditional agriculture programs assisting with junior livestock projects for exhibition at the fairs. Frank coached many judging teams that were successful at the District, State and National level. He also coached shooting sports teams to State and National awards and has served as a state and national instructor in the hunting program. In addition, he conducted many school enrichment programs.

In 2000, Frank started working at the State 4-H Office as a youth development specialist in Agriculture and Natural Resources. He was responsible for curriculum development and program support in this area and also managed Livestock and Horse Schools. Frank was appointed 4-H Department Head in 2004, a position that he held until 2012 when he moved to the AXED department to become the Department Head.

In 2018, Frank's focus changed from administration to teaching. He was one of the instructors for AXED 100 - Intro to AXED, AXED 380 - Philosophy and Methods of Contests, as well as ANSC 310 - Exhibiting Livestock. In addition to the mentioned classes, Dr. Hodnett taught the ACES 111 - Freshman Orientation for the ACES College. Frank retired from New Mexico State University in 2022. 

Frank enjoys working with youth, agents, agriculture teachers and university students. He sees the best in others and strives to foster their strengths. Frank received his bachelors and master's degrees in Agriculture and Extension Education and his Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction, all from New Mexico State University.
