Madison Dyment

Madison Dyment is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Community and Leadership Development and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Journalism from the University of Kentucky in 2020. She received her M.S. in Agricultural Communications, Education, and Leadership from The Ohio State University in 2022, and completed her Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and Communication from the University of Florida in 2025. Her doctoral work focused on the experiences of junior agricultural and natural resources (ANR) communication faculty through traditional and arts-based lenses, primarily as they related to mentorship, curriculum development, holistic faculty well-being, and identity. 

Dr. Dyment held numerous industry internship positions, working for the University of Kentucky Agricultural Communications Services, University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences HIVE Communications Services, 31st Line Strategic Communications, and Select Sires Inc. throughout her academic career. She additionally held numerous graduate teaching and research assistantships in both ANR communications spaces and animal sciences departments. While at The Ohio State University, she also served as the assistant coach for The Ohio State Collegiate Dairy Judging team. Dr. Dyment has assisted in the development of numerous ANR communication courses, and received the NACTA Graduate Student Teaching Award in 2024. Originally from Ontario, Canada, she remains actively involved in her local community, assisting with 4-H dairy showmanship and judging clinics and assisting with other agricultural youth events. 

Dr. Dyment’s research interests focus on improving human aspects of agricultural and livestock systems for producer benefit with strategic science communication through intersections of intentional educational experiences, cross-cultural relationships, and One Health systems approaches. Dr. Dyment is thrilled to contribute to the Agricultural and Extension Education program at NMSU and to build opportunities for students and stakeholders interested in ANR and science communication.
